Polyleader Leaders for Trout

The 1.52 m (5 ft) short Polyleaders are ideal for trout fly fishing. They are special leaders for fly fishing that have different sinking properties . They are used to present flies at different depths in the water, depending on the conditions and the behavior of the fish. Polyleaders consist of a thin, tapered monofilament core with a flexible polymer outer coating. For this reason, they are more durable and capsize better than regular leaders. The loop at the tip makes it easy to switch from floating, intermediate or sinking leaders .

There are different types of polyleaders with different sinking properties, which refer to how quickly the leader sinks through the water:

Floating Polyleaders : These polyleaders float on the surface of the water and are suitable for fishing with dry or wet flies that need to be fished on the surface. They do not sink and keep the fly on the surface.

Intermediate Polyleaders : These polyleaders sink slowly and are found in the middle of the water. They are great for fishing wet flies and nymphs in shallow water or when fish are active at medium depths.

Sink Tip Polyleaders : These polyleaders have a higher sink rate and sink faster to reach greater depths. They are useful when fish are active in deeper water.

Polyleader Fast / Ex. Fast Sink : These polyleaders have the fastest sinking properties and are designed to quickly reach great depths. They are ideal for fishing in deep lakes and pools and for streamer fishing in strong and deep currents.
