What tools are used to tie fishing flies?
Here you can learn more about fly tying and find a wide range of fly tying tools that should not be missing from your fly tying table. To make your first flies you do not need a lot of tools, honestly all you need is a clamp, a bobbin, scissors, a knotter and a hackle pliers, and you can already tie your first dry flies, nymphs or streamers.

We offer all this in different price segments, from standard bobbins to the Stonfo Bobbin Elite series, to high-quality bobbins from SMHAEN or PETITJEAN. With fly tying scissors the assortment is even more diversified, here there are also scissors for the beginner at a moderate price, in addition to the mid-price segment to the top brands such as KOPTER Flies and the adjustable carbon scissors from Go-Fish Products.

Other useful tools are the material pliers to fix various feathers and quills for processing. Here we offer standard clear material pliers for beginners, as well as Stonfo dubbing pliers in two sizes and the famous MAGIC TOOL by Marc PETITJEAN.

Dubbing twisters allow the twisting of threads to create dubbings are also a common tool. This allows you to create dubbing threads for the body of a dry fly, nymph or streamer. Again, we recommend the standard simple twister for the beginner and the Stonfo Rotodubbing Elite ball bearing version for the “pro”.

An equally useful tool are the dirt baskets that keep the construction table clean. Magnifying glasses and contrast mirrors for ambitious fly tying are a must and are always assembled ready for use.

The modern builder is usually supplied with UV products consisting of UV glue and UV lamp. Under UV light, this lacquer cures in seconds and can be used in many ways on nymphs or streamers.
