HOOKS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF COREGONUS NYMPHS
Since there are many different hooks for coregonus fishing on the market, we would like to give you some tips for getting the right hooks. A suitable hook for coregonus fishing must have some important characteristics.
One of the most important points is certainly that the hook must be very sharp.
If you have ever looked at the mouth of a coregonus you will see that it is very fine and delicate. The bites are often very shy and therefore a hook with an extremely sharp point is a great advantage. Coregonus swallow the nymphs immediately and in the case that they actually notice the hook sometimes they choose not to bite to avoid risks for this reason very sharp hooks sometimes bring you a few more fish. Another tip we can give is to use curved hooks with a large opening such as the TMC 212Y model or the Mustad Caddis can certainly help in fishing for coregonus. For example, a curved hook of size #14 has the same opening as a straight hook of size #12, so you can actually fish for coregonus with small hooks such as #16 and #18. The classic colors of coregonus hooks are gold and bronze but also black or red have now found great popularity among fishermen. The eye of the hook should point downwards, as this gives the hook a better hold than a straight or upturned eye.
