Fly reel Lamson Hyperspeed M Coastal
The Lamson Hyperspeed M Coastal Fly Reel is a high-end saltwater reel engineered for anglers who demand exceptional line retrieval speed, powerful drag performance, and lightweight durability. Built around the concept of "retrieve rate per ounce" — how much line is picked up relative to how much the reel weighs — it delivers performance that pushes the limits of what’s possible in a large-arbor reel.
The frame and spool are meticulously CNC machined, with optimized material distribution along critical load paths to ensure outstanding strength, stability and lightness despite the reel’s impressive size. This attention to detail results in a reel that feels incredibly light yet performs like a heavyweight.
Designed in the “Coastal” colorway and specification, this reel is built for challenging saltwater environments like flats and coastal waters. Whether you’re chasing bonefish, permit, or trevally, the Hyperspeed M Coastal is engineered to keep pace with even the fastest fish.
Characteristic:
- Ultra-fast line retrieval: The M8 retrieves roughly 14 in/35 cm, and the M10 about 16 in/40 cm of line per revolution — outperforming many reels in its class
- IPX8 waterproof Cobalt drag system: A sealed drag with significant stopping power and protection against saltwater, sand and debris
- Large/Extra large arbor design: Enhances line pickup efficiency and reduces line memory for smoother handling
- Fully CNC machined construction: Precision-milled from high-grade aluminum for an excellent strength-to-weight ratio
- Made and assembled in the USA: Crafted in Boise, Idaho to ensure top quality and durability

Important care tips:
Do not remove the drag knob or the two-holed nut in the center of the drag knob for any reason.
Always ensure the Gland Cap is tight, especially before using the reel the first time or after reversing the retrieve direction. Be sure to periodically check that the cap is on securely; it should always be firmly tightened by hand, do not use a tool. The Gland Cap should seat completely on the drag cylinder when installed properly.
The drag system is meant to operate lubrication free. Do not use any type of oil or lubricant in or around the drag system. A small amount of WD-40 may be applied to the retrieve handle in order to remove any dirt build up between the handle and the handle shaft.
Occasionally rinse your reel thoroughly under fresh running water and wipe the spool and frame to remove any debris or dirt build up. Be sure to wipe down the spindle on the spool and keep it free of debris.
