Guideline LPX Coastal

Single Hand Fly Rod - Sea Rod

All-new materials, a strong focus on the environment and a new mindset for designing the most advanced saltwater and predator rods: The LPX Coastal rods are truly remarkable! A series of fast action rods without compromise, made for the most intense streamer fishing for trout, predator fishing along the coast or for your dream trip to tropical destinations. Thanks to the new construction technique, we can make longer rods with the same feel of a shorter rod.

New materials and carbon layup create extremely “tip light” rods that give us the ability to extend the rod while maintaining fast acceleration throughout the casting stroke. The lighter blank also reduces wrist fatigue and gives the feeling of a 9’ when casting. Ultimately, the same properties as a 9’, but with more reach. This is why our 5-6-7 weight rods are produced in a 9’3” length. The extra 7.5cm length adds extra margin between the water and the tip of the rod. This allows for better control of the fly line during the cast, especially when wading. What we mean is that these 9’3” rods are no more affected by the wind than regular 9’ rods. Forcing a rod through the wind is more of an issue as rods reach 10’ and above and become tip heavy.

The 8-10-12wt rods are held at 9 feet to fight the larger fish they were designed to target and to reduce wrist pressure with heavier lines. These rods are also more suited to tropical anglers who often fish from boats and don’t need to cast far. The action is fast with a quick recovery. Compared to our previous saltwater models, the LPX Coastal rods are lighter, sharper, livelier and feature a slightly deeper curve. This makes them easier to cast and more forgiving of the excessive wrist movement we often “accidentally” use while trying to make the longest casts.

TECHNOLOGY:

The new LPX Coastal is the result of 3 years of intensive research and sourcing to find the best and most optimal solutions available for both performance and greener technology in every single component and part of the rod. The advanced carbon layup of these rods features CAP (complex axial pattern) technology combined with a unidirectional carbon fiber structure to ensure maximum strength and low weight. Unidirectional carbon fiber fabric is a type of non-woven carbon structure, with all the fibers running in a single parallel direction for maximum strength lengthwise. In a complex axial pattern (CAP) the prepreg layers are laid at different angles to each other to maximize strength and stability in all directions. The properties and technical specifications of the materials used in these shafts are superior to those used in our revolutionary Elevation series. Spectacular performance and strength despite incredibly low weight.

DESCRIPTION MODELS:

9'3" #5 - #6: The ideal tools for use on calm days on the open coast or in sheltered bays and inlets where you need to present small shrimp and fry to easily spooked cruising feeders. These rods have a crisp, very responsive action that allows you to cast nice tight loops and fish delicate tippets thanks to a sensitive, well-balanced tip area.

9'3 #7 - 9' #8: The all-rounder for inshore fly fishing in Europe. These rods are built to handle bigger flies, stronger winds and sinking lines/heads when needed. The low draw weight and great tip to butt connection make them a joy to cast and work on long sessions. The actions are quite fast, but with a loaded feel maintained towards the bottom third of the rod when challenging and increasing casting power.

9ft #10 - #11 - #12: The three heaviest models in the Coastal Series are well suited to both saltwater fishing for Halibut, Pollack and Tuna, as well as tropical fishing for Permit, Jacks, Tarpon and other game fish that live in warmer waters. These rods are strong but very light and are built to have enough power to effectively fight larger fish from the bottom of the rod, while maintaining a good casting action thanks to a more forgiving and flexible upper part.
