Guideline Single Hand Scandi WF – Floating Fly Line for Single-Handed Rods

The Guideline Single Hand Scandi WF is a floating fly line for single-handed rods. Developed for Spey casts, roll casts and overhead casts, it allows different casting techniques to be used with the same line. Its applications include fishing for trout, sea trout and salmon.

The Scandinavian Taper has a long, continuous front taper, with much of the head's weight concentrated towards the rear. This distribution helps load the rod while forming the D-loop and supports water-anchored casts, including where back-casting space is limited.

The front taper transfers energy progressively, helping the leader turn over in a controlled way for delicate fly presentation. A short rear taper with a tapered handling section improves overhead stability and reduces hinging. Lighter line weights suit dry flies and delicate presentations, while heavier versions handle streamers and salmon flies. The line is also suitable for fishing nymphs.

The white head and bright yellow running line help distinguish the line sections when preparing a cast. Welded loops at both ends provide practical connections to backing and leader. An identification marking near the front shows the line weight.

The coating is phthalate-free. The line spool and packaging are made from recycled materials.

    Frequently Asked Questions

▸ Is this a floating line?

Yes. All listed versions, from WF4F to WF8F, are floating.

▸ Can it be used for overhead casting?

Yes. The profile was developed for Spey, roll and overhead casts. The short rear taper and tapered handling section help maintain stability during overhead casting.

▸ Is it suitable where back-casting space is limited?

Yes. The weight distribution helps load the rod during water-anchored casts, which can be used where there is limited room for a back cast.

▸ Does the line have connection loops?

Yes. Welded loops at both ends provide connections to the backing and leader.

▸ Do head length and weight vary between versions?

    Yes. The head ranges from 8.8 m and 11 g in WF4F to 10.5 m and 19 g in WF8F. Total length is 30 m for WF4F–WF6F and 32 m for WF7F–WF8F.
