Orvis SSR Spey – Fly Reel for Two-Handed Rods
The Orvis SSR Spey fly reel is designed for Spey, Switch and Trout Spey fishing with two-handed rods. Its precision-machined, anodised aluminium construction combines a fully enclosed frame with a sealed disc drag based on Orvis Hydros technology.
The sealed Hydros drag provides smooth, progressive adjustment. Light settings help protect fine tippets, while higher resistance gives you control over hard-fighting fish in strong currents. A tactile reference on the ergonomic drag knob helps you adjust the setting without taking your eyes off the fish.
The Full Cage frame helps prevent thin shooting lines used with Scandi and Skagit heads from slipping between the spool and frame. Drainage openings help backing and running line dry and contribute to reducing the risk of ice build-up during winter fishing.
The rounded reel foot lets you temporarily wrap your leader around it while limiting unwanted kinks. The spool is removable and interchangeable, and the reel converts between right- and left-hand retrieve. Spare spools are available separately.
