Advantages "Full Frame"

Fly reels with a closed frame (also known as “full frame” reels) are often preferred for nymph fishing. This type of reel is particularly useful as it prevents thin nymph lines or leaders from slipping between the spool and the frame. 

Line protection: the closed frame protects the line from getting jammed between the spool and frame, which is particularly beneficial with fine nymph lines.
