Orvis Mission – USA-Made Two-Handed Fly Rod
The Orvis Mission is a two-handed fly rod for trout, steelhead and salmon. Its construction draws on Helios-series technologies and uses a graphite-composite blank. Progressive loading helps build and transfer energy to the line.
Spey casting and line control
The blank construction reduces unwanted vibration and supports controlled loops. Its progressive loading helps produce smooth Spey casts, including in situations with limited space behind the angler.
The different configurations can be fished with Scandi and Skagit heads correctly matched to the rod’s length and line weight.
Trout Spey, Switch, Short Spey and Full Spey
The range includes Trout Spey models for wet flies and small streamers, alongside shorter, more manageable Switch configurations. Short Spey versions are intended for medium-sized rivers. Full Spey models suit large rivers, long-distance casting and hard-fighting fish.
Length, line weight, action and section count depend on the chosen model.
Components and finish
The blank has a Matte Black finish with orange details. The cork grip features composite-cork reinforcements in areas exposed to greater wear.
REC RECOIL® guides are paired with a titanium stripping guide with a silicon carbide, or SiC, insert. The black anodised aluminium reel seat has a wood insert and a downlocking mechanism.
Manufacturing and included accessories
The Mission is designed and built in Vermont, USA. An orange protective aluminium tube and a dedicated inner rod bag are included.
The rod carries the Orvis 25-year warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s terms.
