Orvis Ratio – Fly Reel with Sealed Disc Drag
The Orvis Ratio fly reel is designed for freshwater and saltwater fly fishing when controlled drag pressure and backing capacity are needed for long-running fish. Its anodised aluminium construction comes in five sizes covering line weights #5 through #14.
The fully sealed disc drag uses 16 carbon and stainless-steel friction surfaces. It provides smooth, progressive adjustment and an immediate response without perceptible start-up inertia. The adjustment range allows light resistance to protect relatively fine tippets or higher pressure to control powerful fish.
An oversized drag knob with click detents makes adjustments easier during a fight. Seals protect the internal components from saltwater, sand and dirt.
Type II anodising protects the aluminium against corrosion and scratches. A low-profile counterweight balances the spool without interfering with the line or your fingers during retrieval. The reel converts between right- and left-hand retrieve, and spare spools are available separately.
The size range provides options for large trout, steelhead, carp and saltwater species such as tarpon, permit and tuna. Backing capacity varies by model.
