Orvis Recon® Saltwater – USA-Made Saltwater Fly Rod
The Orvis Recon® Saltwater is built for saltwater fly fishing along the coast and on tropical flats. It draws on manufacturing technologies developed for the Helios™ series and features a graphite-composite blank with a model-specific action.
Casting control and fish-fighting power
Increased hoop strength, or resistance to transverse deformation, contributes to blank strength and fish-fighting power. The blank’s progressive response allows it to load on short casts, while a controlled casting path helps form consistent loops at longer distances.
Efficient energy transfer helps deliver streamers, baitfish patterns, shrimp and crab imitations. The rod supports controlled presentations when wind makes casting more demanding.
Options for coastlines and tropical flats
The range includes configurations for bonefish, permit, redfish, striped bass, snook and bluefish. Mid-range line weights suit bonefish, redfish and striped bass. More powerful versions handle bulkier flies and larger predators. The right configuration depends on the intended fishing.
