FAQ
▸ What does "roll-top" mean and what is the advantage over a traditional backpack?
The roll-top system involves rolling the backpack's opening over itself several times and securing it with buckles, creating a waterproof seal without zips. This system is superior to traditional zips in terms of absolute waterproofing, as there are no vulnerable water entry points. It is the preferred solution for backpacks and bags designed for outdoor and aquatic use.
▸ Is the backpack completely waterproof or just splash-resistant?
The Simms Dry Creek Rolltop Backpack is designed to be completely waterproof when the roll-top closure is correctly rolled and secured. The Dry Creek material and backpack construction guarantee complete protection even in partial submersion, making it ideal for intensive wading and the most adverse weather conditions.
▸ What can I carry in the Dry Creek Rolltop Backpack?
Thanks to its generous capacity, the Simms Dry Creek Rolltop Backpack is ideal for carrying spare clothing, thermal layers, rain jackets, spare shoes, food and water for the day, as well as fishing gear not immediately needed. The perfect companion for long days on the river or fly fishing travel.
▸ Can it be used as carry-on luggage on flights for fishing trips?
Yes. The Simms Dry Creek Rolltop Backpack is also designed for travel and can be used as carry-on luggage within the dimensions permitted by airlines – always verify the specific weight and size restrictions of your carrier. Its waterproof construction also makes it ideal for transporting delicate technical equipment.
▸ How do you clean and maintain the backpack long-term?
For cleaning, rinse the backpack with fresh water after each use in saline or particularly dirty environments. For more thorough cleaning, use a soft sponge with mild soap, avoiding complete immersion in soapy water. Do not machine wash and do not tumble dry. Store in a dry, well-ventilated place.
